Mitigating the effects of climate change is everyone’s responsibility. Unfortunately, many consumers do not have the adequate knowledge in making the best choice when purchasing a vehicle. At first glance, the gas powered combustion engine seems like the better deal, retailing almost $14,000 less than its EV counterpart. However, after a thorough comparison between the Nissan Leaf and the Honda Civic Hatchback, I found that prices balanced out after calculating the cost of running each vehicle over 10 years. And when incentives are included, the cost of an EV was found to be the better deal for the consumer.
